Dermal & Lip Filler

WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels used to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and soften lines. Most fillers are made with hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring molecule in the body that binds water. When injected, HA attracts hydration and physically adds volume beneath the skin, creating a smoother, fuller appearance.

WHY DO WE LOSE VOLUME IN THE FACE OVER TIME?

Aging affects multiple layers of the face—not just the skin. Over time, we experience:

  • Decreased collagen and elastin (skin support)
  • Loss of fat pads (volume and structure)
  • Bone resorption (loss of foundational support)

This leads to sagging, hollowing, and the formation of folds. Dermal fillers help restore this structural support.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED AND WHY?

Fillers are used strategically to either restore volume or enhance structure:

  • Cheeks: Restore lift and support the mid-face
  • Nasolabial folds: Soften deep smile lines by supporting surrounding tissue
  • Jawline & chin: Improve definition and facial balance
  • Under-eyes: Reduce hollowing and shadowing
  • Temples: Replace volume loss for overall facial harmony
  • Lips: Enhance volume, shape, hydration, and symmetry

HOW LONG DO DERMAL AND LIP FILLERS LAST?

Longevity varies based on several factors:

  • Area treated (lips metabolize filler faster)
  • Product used (thicker fillers last longer)
  • Individual metabolism

On average:

  • Lips: 6–12 months
  • Other areas: 9–18+ months

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING AND AFTER TREATMENT?

During treatment:

  • Numbing is applied for comfort
  • Small amounts of filler are injected strategically
  • Treatment typically takes 30–60 minutes

After treatment:

  • Mild swelling, redness, or bruising is normal
  • Lips may swell more than other areas initially
  • Final results settle within a few days to 2 weeks

CAN FILLERS BE DISSOLVED?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks down the filler safely if adjustments are needed.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR DERMAL OR LIP FILLERS?

You may be a good candidate if you:

  • Want to restore lost volume
  • Are looking to enhance natural features
  • Prefer a non-surgical option with minimal downtime

A personalized consultation is essential to determine the best approach for your goals.
